CIIM Canada proudly announce the 2008 Entrepreneurial Awards Gala Dinner next February 26th 2009 at Riviera Parque banquet hall in Concord: cocktail at 6.30 - dinner at 7.30.
"We are excited for this new Entrepreneurial Event", said Leonardo Kosarew - CIIM Canada's Chairman, " after the success of PFM's concert we co-promoted last November together with Italian Cultural Institute of Toronto."
"We will recognize Italian-Canadian entrepreneurs with our Award, once again under the patronage of the Office of Italian Prime Minister, and, through Giovanni Caboto and Ambassador awards, exceptional individuals that distinguished themselves for their outstanding efforts and contributions in their field."
The 2008 Giovanni Caboto award goes to Jennifer Corriero.
Jennifer is the co-founder and Executive Director of TakingITGlobal, a non-profit charitable organization based in Toronto, Ontario that strengthens the capacity of youth leaders, while fostering cross-cultural dialogue and global awareness through the use of technology. With an annual budget of around $1.5 million, the organization has 25 staff members and nearly 100 virtual volunteers, along with 8 Board Members and a network of over 30 advisors who help guide TakingITGlobal's direction. Over 220,000 young people are registered as members from over 200 countries, while the site has reached out to over 10 million people since its launch in 2000.
The 2008 Ambassador Award goes to Dr. Claudio Cina.
Claudio is full Professor in the Department of Surgery and in the Department of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto, and in the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, at McMaster University.
He has been leading at St Michael’s Hospital one of the most advanced endovascular and minimally invasive programme in the Country for the treatment of thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms. Dr Cinà has performed the first fenestrated endograft for the repair of juxtarenal aneurysm in Ontario and is a proctor for these techniques in many hospitals in Canada and abroad.
The entertainment part of the Gala will be another extremely exciting one, after the outstanding apperance of Michelangelo Carbonara at the last Gala.
As main guest we are honoured to have Low Level Flight, that will perform an acoustic set of some of their best hit singles. Angelica Di castro, the well known Italo-Canadian song writer, will join them on stage for a song.
Low Level Flight are stellar songwriters who have created a powerful, hook laden sound with major league production that compliments the bittersweet lyrics and catchy songwriting. Their debut album, Urgency, released in Canada in 2007, features the singles Say and Change For Me, which climbed the radio charts and spawned #1 videos on MuchMoreMusic. The band released their third single, Turnaround, in June 2008.
